Welcome to the information page for the Wakehurst Rugby U14 Fiji Tour 2024!
Wakehurst Rugby Club has a history of touring and in September 2024 our U14 playing group intend to restart that history with a tour to Fiji.
This will be an amazing opportunity for the players and families involved and is founded on these principles:
- A collective belief that Rugby is fun.
- A pathway to maintain friendships established through Wakehurst Rugby Club.
- To create memories and stories to recall in their later years.
- To experience different levels of Rugby, including overseas.
- An opportunity to experience Fijian culture.
Club legends Gareth “Bladesie” Blades and Michael Gullick have led multiple tours to Fiji in the Wakehurst colours and will also be guiding the 2024 U14’s.
On the ground in Fiji, a key member of the Tour will be Bill Dawai. Over the past ten years, Bill has become a close friend of our club and will be staying with us throughout our tour. Several of the activities that we will be doing involve members of Bill’s family and his village.
Another important member of our Fijian family was Peceli Kina. Kina (as he liked to be called) was a former Fijian International player who also played for Warringah in the late 1980’s and was involved in every tour we ran from 2005 to 2019. Sadly, Kina passed away last year after a short illness, but our club still has a very close relationship with his family, and they will also be in involved in various parts of this year’s tour.
We are still raising money to help fund our U14’s tour to Fiji. Monies raised will also go toward purchasing rugby kits, clothing, and stationery to donate to the Fijian villages we visit.
At the moment we have a Trivia Night coming up (in June) and our Raffle Competition will be underway soon…

Fiji Tour Fundraising
You may see some of the U14 team selling Raffle Tickets in and around the area. Please support them by buying a ticket or two!
Tickets go on sale on 1st May, 2024. They cost $5 each (please note, there are no special offers i.e. no 3 for $10, etc).
The Raffle will be drawn at 8pm on Saturday 15 June 2024, at the Wakehurst Rugby Club Trivia Night, being held at Forestville Memorial Hall, 3 Starkey Street, Forestville.

Other Events
The U14 team has been involved in many fundraising events over the last few months. We held a Doggy Day Out before Christmas, and the team has been busy selling Meat Tray Raffle Tickets at the Belrose Hotel on Thursday nights.
We still have a handful of opportunities to fundraise. Up and coming events include:

- Canteen & BBQ Operations at our Junior Comp home games.
- Clubhouse Events – State of Origin and after training dinners.
We’d love your support of the tour players to help give everyone involved the best experience on this 2024 Fiji Tour. Monies raised also goes toward purchasing rugby kits, clothing and stationery to donate to the Fijian villages we visit whilst on tour.
